ALP NATIONAL POLICY FORUM – 2015 National Platform – Consultation Draft

7 May 2015

The ALP National Policy Forum is charged with producing a draft National Platform for debate at Labor’s next National Conference.

The 47th ALP National Conference will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 July 2015.

The National Policy Forum is chaired by the Leader of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party, Bill Shorten MP, and Labor’s National President, Jenny McAllister. Membership of the National Policy Forum includes twenty Federal Members of Parliament, twenty representatives of the trade union movement and twenty Party members elected from our membership.

Over the past 12 months, over 1500 ALP members have participated in consultations about what values and principles should be reflected in Labor’s National Platform. These consultations included more than 30 workshops led by NPF members across the country, including forums with Labor’s Shadow Ministerial Team.

As Co-Chairs of the National Policy Forum, we are now pleased to invite your comments on the first full draft of Labor’s next National Platform. You can download the Consultation Draft of the Platform here.

The draft includes revisions to all chapters, as well as a new opening Chapter setting out Labor’s enduring principles and values.

You can provide your feedback on the consultation draft of the Platform by making a submission here.

Written submissions can also be posted to ALP National Secretariat at PO Box 6222, Kingston ACT 2604.
