Australian War Memorial makes a permanent home for WWI journey

AN exhibition remembering the nation’s World War I journey and reflecting on the service and sacrifice of Australians has been unveiled ahead of the centenary of the Gallipoli landings.

The official opening of the redeveloped galleries at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra took place in front of a large gathering, including former prime ministers John Howard and Bob Hawke.

Governor-General Peter Cosgrove launched the memorial’s new permanent exhibition, Australia in the Great War.
