 ROUSE

In this second week of OP Aware 2 we need your help to take our campaign direct to all Federal MP electorate and Senators offices.

We will assemble to act in two concurrent ways:

  1. A Rally of supporters at or near the Labor MP marginal electorate Offices, the Green MP Office (Melbourne), the Independents electorate Offices and Labor, Green and Independent Senators Offices.

  2. A deputation of three people to hand deliver a formal ADSO letter to all other MPs and Senators at their electorate Offices. The letter from David Jamison, ADSOs national spokesperson, highlights two major issues:military superannuation indexation and the rertoration of veterans disability payment parity.

 THE RALLY

When? – Friday 17 August 11.30 am – 12.30 pm

Where? – At  or near all marginal Labor Federal electorate and Senators Offices

Why? – To protest to our Parliamentarians and to alert the public to our unfair and unjust treatment on military superannuation indexation and veterans disability payments.

How? – Organised groups of about but not limited to ten people  assemble to conduct a civil and peaceful protest.  Placards and flyer/handout will be provided to these organised groups.  They will carry placards, hand out flyers, explain our issues and encourage support. Our Action Group leaders will answer questions from the media and other authorities.

Who? – Any one can attend. To find out what electoral Offices we will be present at call Ted Chitham [email protected] for Queensland, Victoria, and Tasmania, Ian Scott [email protected] for NSW, Geoffrey Schmidt [email protected] for ACT, John Wilson [email protected] for SA and NT and Ted McEvoy [email protected] for WA. They will give you the relevant Leaders contact details.

Where we have no representation you may want to make up your own group. We will help you where we can with flyers, placard text and reinforcements. Dress for comfort and wear your service medals and or an item of military clothing eg., a cap.

The Flyer/Handout

The Placards . We plan on least five placards per group comprising the Flyer (front), the Graph and your selection of any three or more of the following text.

  1. MILITARY PENSIONS CPI INCREASE 48 CENTS/A WEEK. THATS GENEROUS SAYS THE GOVERNMENT. ???????

  2. FAIR GO ?   HELL NO
  3. WE WANT WHAT WAS PROMISED
  4. GOVERNMENT ADVOCATES A FAIR GO FOR ALL AUSTRALIANS – BUT EXCLUDES THE MILITARY?
  5. VETS RIGHT TO FAIR INDEXATION DENIED – CPI INCREASE 0.1% = 48 CENTS A DAY
  6. FAIR INDEXATION DENIED – SEE THE GRAPH – VETS ABANDONED
  7. VETS DISABILITY PENSION ERODED – RESTORE PARITY NOW

  THE DEPUTATION

When? Friday 17 August at noon

Where? At all other MP electorates and Senators Offices

Why? To show our presence and delver a formal protest letter to the Parliamentarians.

How? By a small deputation to hand deliver the letter to the MP or in his/her absence the Senior Staff person. We want to save the 60 cents stamp costs which is more than our latest weekly indexation payment

Who? You – the volunteer. If you live in the electorate and are willing then tell your State representative (named above). The letter will be emailed to the volunteers for delivery.
