THE ALLIANCE OF DEFENCE SERVICE ORGANISATIONS (ADSO) MEDIA RELEASE
The Alliance of Defence Service Organisations (ADSO) welcomed today’s news that the Government has revoked its previous decision of the need to offset the 1.5% per annum pay offer made to ADF members with ‘productivity initiatives’ that removed some leave, food and travel entitlements. These entitlements will now be restored.
However, the Government has untouched a review of the inadequacy of the pay offer itself which remains well below the annual inflation rate and even further below the expected rise of annual living costs. Urgent attention to that offer will need to be applied in the New Year.
In the mean time, the Government should not increase such Defence engendered charges as married quarter rents and ration charges by a greater percentage than the pay rise offered.
